Derby children with disabilities and challenging learning behaviour are one step closer to receiving residential short breaks and day care from the purpose built facilities of the Light House following handover from Southern Derbyshire LIFTCo to Derby Social Services and Central Derby PCT.

Staff are now in the process of moving into the new building in Chaddesden, which offers accommodation of a 6 bed and a 4 bed wing, soft play areas and sensory rooms, an IT play area, a children's kitchen and activity area as well as outdoor play areas. In addition to the children's accommodation office space has been provided to accommodate outreach teams including community staff, field workers and school nurses.

The first intake of children into the Light House is expected to take place at the end of February and an open day is planned in early March.
