Southern Derbyshire LIFT hands the keys of the first phase of the new Long Eaton Health Centre to Erewash PCT.
A new facility for the residents of Long Eaton is one step closer to completion after hand over of phase 1 of the Long Eaton Health Centre.
The first phase provides GP accommodation for the Aitune Practice and The Golden Brook Practice (formerly the Gould Practice), both currently based at the Midland Street Health Centre, and for the Charlton House Medical Practice (Dr Henderson-Smith and Dr Bell), who will be moving from the Charlton House Medical Centre. All the medical services currently provided at the Midland Street Health Centre will be re-located to the new building along with a variety of new services. These include additional nurse led clinics, primary mental health workers and podiatry/chiropody. Boots the Chemist will be moving onto site during phase one and will initially be operating out of temporary accommodation.
The move into the new building will occur as follows:
19-21 May Health Centre Services
26-28 May Golden Brook Medical Practice
2-4 June Aitune Medical Practice
9-11 June Charlton House Surgery
To celebrate this landmark in the construction of the ‘super surgery’ in the centre of Long Eaton, patients and local residents were invited to an open evening on the 18 May giving individuals the chance to see the new purpose built facilities before they opened to the public.
Phase two is already underway. It will see the completion of the construction work to the therapy area, pharmacy and the minor surgery area. The current facility will be demolished, the grounds landscaped along with access to the main entrance completed. Building work will finish on Long Eaton Health Centre later in the year and an opening ceremony event will mark the provision of modern, purpose built health facilities for the residents of Long Eaton.
